PhillyMINI has hosted a Detail Day BBQ for years. In 2017, Vinnie & Rob hosted their first event after two years of membership to the organization. While Detail Day would be the theme, in those three years, approximately six members actually cleaned their cars.  In the past, attendees participated in various activities, including drag racing, engine tuning and movies under the stars. This year, Covid restrictions have eased enough to hold an outdoor event, but the pandemic has certainly presented various challenges.

Logistics

Covid Restrictions: New Jersey

Gatherings are permitted as long as they comply with the limits.  Indoor gatherings must be limited to 10 people or 25 percent of a room’s capacity. All attendees must wear masks at indoor gatherings and stay six feet apart.

Outdoor gatherings must be limited to 500 people and social distancing must be practiced. When social distancing is difficult to maintain, face coverings must be worn.

Social distancing should be practiced in the front lawn and inside the hanger. The area is exposed to the public. During a beautiful day, there will be plenty of passersby.

Anyone entering the house for any reason, will disinfect their hands and wear their masks. Both antibacterial cleanser and face coverings will be provided (this is a good opportunity to sell PhillyMINI masks if there still is a supply). We’ll also attempt to keep the amount of people inside the house limited to six people at one time.

Attendees

This will be a membership-only event. When details are posted on the website, RSVP will be mandatory one week prior to event date.

Any RSVP’d attendee who is not feeling well, up to three days prior to event and display symptoms associated with Covid, should not attend.

Food & Drink

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own beverages, but basics will be provided.

One to two people will be handling food at all times prior to serving. These individuals will have no symptoms associated with Covid. Food will be served directly off the grill on individual plates with individual condiments and individual sides.

Guests are encouraged to bring appetizers and desserts, however, they must be individualized portions (e.g., cupcakes instead of cakes that need to be sliced; disposable ramekins of dip and individual bags of chips instead of communal bowls.)

Bathroom Etiquette

Attendees will sanitize their hands before entering the house and wear face coverings while inside the house.

When flushing the toilet, the lid should be closed to avoid any spraying,

Hands should be washed with soap for at least 20 seconds.

Paper towels will be provided instead of a communal hand towel and should be used to turn the sink water off and then properly thrown out. Garbage will be changed out every two hours.

Plane Rides

While a tradition at our Detail Day BBQs, plane rides will be suspended because of the pandemic. The close nature inside the plane is prohibited.

This can be discussed further and a decision can be made last-minute based on attendees’ level of comfort.

Movie

A movie under the starts can be set up, a poll can be taken of the attendees on what movie should be featured.

Last year, The Italian Job was featured.

If popcorn is served, one person will prepare individual bags for attendees. Similar to grilling, this person will display no symptoms of Covid.

Party Description

PhillyMINI PPE: Pandemic Potluck Extravaganza

Covid-19 has really made an impact on the club’s calendar, but as restrictions have eased in the last few weeks (and hopefully not spiking).  Let’s take our feet off the pedals and relax in beautiful Hunterdon County.  In honor of Detail Day, we’ll provide everything needed to clean your MINI, but feel free to Bring Your Own Detailing Stuff.

This year, we’re changing things up because of the pandemic.  Physical distancing is a must and when not attained, face covering must be worn.  This is expected in the house, as well. Food and drinks will be offered individually instead of buffet-style or communal. We’ll have a variety of lawn games, but the best part – we’ll all be together!

Vinnie and Rob will provide main BBQ fare!!! Please bring appetizers and desserts!  One catch: anything you bring needs to be individualized. For example, instead of cake that needs to be sliced, maybe bring cupcakes (or slice and individually wrap before coming); or instead of homemade guacamole and a bowl of chips, maybe cups of guacamole and personal bag of chips. Best appetizer and dessert will win a prize! Not only will taste be a factor in winning, but creativity with PhillyMINI, MINI or covid-theme and individualized execution will also be considered.  Please use the PhillyMINI PPE forum to check what others are bringing so we don’t end up with 300 chocolate cupcakes (300 different types of cupcakes will be welcomed, though!!!!)

We are looking forward to having you and let’s prove that PhillyMINI can socialize while respecting the pandemic!!!!!

What are you bringing post it here!
