Watkins Glen Vintage Grand Prix | Sept 5-7 2008

"Once again, it's back to The Glen for the finest in American Road Racing."

Join us for a weekend of vintage road racing on one of America's most historic racing circuits. Over 450 stunning vintage race cars including Formula One machines, Ferraris, Ford GT40s, MGs, Triumphs, Cobras, Mustangs, Camaros, Bugattis and YES... classic Minis will be on the track, where they belong, not gathering dust in some garage!

Enjoy the atmosphere of small town America on Friday afternoon, September 5th, when they recreate the original race through the streets of town first held in 1949. Fell the earth shake when a grid of thundering V8s come to life for the vintage Trans Am race and enjoy the wail of a Ferrari V12 at full song.

There are plenty of other things to do if you need a respite fromt he racing. there are dozens of fine wineries in the immediate area, scenic Seneca Lake lies at your feet, historic Corning glassworks is nearby and the fall foliage will just be coming into its own.

Many hotels are in the area and you can even camp at the track for those so inclined.

Let's follow our noses to a great brunch!

It's back! Mark your calendar for one of the most popular PhillyMINI rallies!
Once again, we will be rallying for charity and raising money for Canine Partners for Life, a non-profit organization committed to the training of well qualified service dogs and placement with a person with physical disabilities.

Date: Sunday, Sept 14, 2008
Starting Point: WAWA in Frazer: gas up, get your coffee and we’ll be ready to go!
(Make sure you go to the one on Route 30, NOT the Route 30 Bypass... we won't be at that one!)

Ending Point: Four Dogs Tavern, West Chester
Check-in: 9:30am | Drivers meeting: 9:45am | First Dogpack Departure: 10:00am

On this 50-60 mile route you'll enjoy scenery, horses, farms, twisty river roads, single country lanes, rolling two lane roads, covered bridges, one lane bridges and no dirt or stone roads. We’ll end our run at the Four Dogs Tavern for brunch. You are welcome to join us for brunch only, if you do not want to do the run. We expect to be at Four Dogs at approximately 1pm.
We'll have awesome raffle prizes to win and all proceeds will go towards the local chapter of Canine Partners for Life.

What to pack in your doggie bag:
- 2-way radios
- cash for lunch at Four Dogs after the run
- $$$ for special clings/buttons (all proceeds to support Canine Partners for Life)
- a full tank of gas
- your dog (on a leash, please!)
- your camera

Note: This event is free of charge to PhillyMINI Members. Be sure to show your Member Card at check-in! If you are not a member, a $5 rally fee will be charged. Memberships will be on sale the day of the event should you decide to become a member.

Just like past years, Saturday's event will be 185 miles of some of the best PA roads and natural beauty you will ever experience, followed by an amazing BBQ dinner at Bo Brothers.

Sunday's event will be hosted by our very own Jason and Kris Beatty, who are NorthEast PA natives. They are putting together a Sunday Drive complete with 3 Dam Crossings, ending with lunch!

Discount rates at a hotel convenient to the starting point are being worked out and will be announced, along with other details, very soon!
